The SafeAir (GP) offers a simple single panel package for ventilation interlocking and gas proving within a commercial kitchen
It is a ventilation interlock system with gas pressure proving designed for use within commercial kitchens,to aid sites in meeting BS6173:2009.
Gas proving must be fitted in any commercial kitchen which has appliances fitted without flame failure devices (FFD's). As explained further in the article below “why fit gas pressure proving in a commercial kitchen?” gas proving should be considered for the long term benefit and safety of the site when considering other gas standards and that the majority of leaks identified are before the FFD's.
The systems can also monitor for air quality when fitted with the required detectors.
The easy to use LCD provides clear messages giving real time information rather than just LED indications.
It is a requirement that any mechanical ventilation within a kitchen environment (both supply and extract) is switched on and running before the use of any gas appliances can take place. With the SafeAir (GP) if the ventilation is not switched on, the LCD display informs the operator that the fans are off and to switch on the fans and restart the panel.
For the interlocking of the ventilation our current monitoring unit (CM2M-K) or pressure differential switches can be used.
From within the panel the engineer has several “engineer functions” which can be used to aid in the setup of the system – such as displaying in real time both the inlet and outlet pressure at the gas valve (mbar) and the ability to power the valve at a button press, its with functions like these that for example a “valve let by indication” check be performed with ease.
A let by and a dynamic pressure loss reading can be viewed by the engineer. The Gas pressure readouts on the LCD indicating the pressure on both sides of the valve.
In addition when fitted with a Medem carbon dioxide detector (CO2) it monitors the CO2 level to ensure that HSE set levels are not exceeded. Should the carbon dioxide level rise above the set low alarm level the panel LCD will advise staff to “increase the ventilation .” If the maximum allowed level of CO2 is reached the system will isolate the gas and advise the staff to ventilate the kitchen.
The carbon dioxide PPM levels will be displayed on the LCD.
