In the SMC Rodless range of actuators, the piston is mechanically or magnetically coupled to an external slide table, which in turn provides the linear motion and force. No piston rod is used which means that the risk of rod buckling is eliminated and uneven seal wear and side loading on the shaft is reduced.
The lack of piston rod reduces the length of the actuator considerably and they are therefore ideal for confined spaces or long strokes.

SMC Electric Actuators
High precision positioning and repeatability define the SMC range of electric actuators. For the ultimate control of velocity, acceleration, deceleration and position, select a servomotor driven electric actuator such as the LJ1, LG1 or LTF actuator or for less demanding requirements a stepper motor actuator is recommended. Basic linear movements similar to a pneumatic cylinder, but with no need for compressed air, are provided by the electric cylinder and e-Rodless series of electric actuator.
